“Everyone loves a witch hunt as long as it's someone else's witch being hunted.”― Walter Kirn
We're great at standing against the sin of others. But when it is my sin, and I can't clean it up, what do I do?
Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

perhaps the sheer volume of divorced people in the churches anymore may cause this to become less of a problem. Marriage is challenging. I think the Rabid Frog is spot on. Many married people have thought of divorce. It just hits too close to home, I guess. or maybe its that it is such a visible dividing line. We usually don't really know if someone else is: a tyrant in their own home, a liar, a porn addict, or even a drug abuser.
ReplyDeleteOf course, a reformed alcoholic or drug addict is usually a church-speaking Superstar; so there goes that argument.
I want to believe that the Holy Spirit can defeat this desire to tear others down. Actually, I do believe that He can. Like every other aspect of our humanity & weakness, we have to step aside, submit our will, & let the work be done in us.
